Note: If you are in the middle of a transaction and you receive a phone call or text message, press Decline and complete your transaction. Hitting Accept will abruptly end your transaction and force the app to close.

If you don't have a stable internet or cellular connection (wifi or data plan), use the Offline Payments feature to complete a sale.

Completing a sale in Terminal theme:

Payanywhere’s default Terminal theme works just like a traditional credit card terminal. For advanced features like inventory and open tabs, switch to the Retail theme. You can change your theme by navigating to Settings → Theme

  1. Enter a dollar amount on the New Sale screen.
  2. Insert an EMV chip card into the reader. Or, select the desired payment method at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Your customer will sign and tip, if necessary.
  4. Email, print, or SMS text a receipt to the customer.

Click the cart icon in the upper right-hand corner of your screen if you need to clear the transaction and start over.

Completing a sale in Retail theme:

  1. Add one or more items to your cart.
    • If you are a first time user or you do not have items in your inventory, use Express Item to add an item/transaction amount to your cart. There is a character limit of 200 for the optional express item name.
    • Items with multiple prices and/or modifiers will prompt you to select the price and/or modifier options.
  2. Tap Proceed to Checkout. If you have Tickets enabled, tap Charge to proceed to checkout, or Create Ticket to create an open ticket.
  3. Insert an EMV chip card into the reader. Or, select the desired payment method from the Checkout screen.
    • You can manually enter a credit card here. At minimum, you must enter a number and the expiration date.
      • If Show AVS Mismatch Alert is enabled in your Settings, you will be alerted if the street number and/or zip code entered does not match the billing address of the cardholder. You will have the option to void or complete the transaction.
    • If you are accepting a cash payment, enter in cash provided or use one of the quick cash buttons to calculate change due.
    • If needed, you can again review the items in your cart by hitting the shopping cart icon.
  4. Your customer will sign and tip, if necessary.
    • Phone Order: If you are taking an order over the phone and manually keying in your customer's information, make sure to write "Phone Order" on the signature screen.
  5. Email, print, or SMS text a receipt to your customer.
    • You can enter an optional custom invoice number on the receipt screen. If no invoice number is entered, one will be automatically generated.
    • If you are using a Payanywhere Smart Solution that has a customer facing screen (Smart Flex, Smart Point of Sale, and Smart POS+) you can enter the invoice number, then select Prompt for Receipt Option on Second Screen to have your customer choose their receipt preferences.
